The Willowlamp Marianne Fassler story
When fashion designer and renowned doyenne and champion of South African design, Marianne Fassler, happened upon the iconic Flower of Life chandelier by willowlamp at auction at Russell Kaplan Auctioneers, she knew she had to have it! Marianne’s keen design eye had been trained on willowlamp for a long time. This serendipitous encounter marked the beginning of a beautiful collaboration between two forces of South African design.
The Journey of the Flower of Life Chandelier.
The Flower of Life chandelier holds a special place in the hearts of everyone at willowlamp. It was the very first design by founder Adam Hoets, and remains a best seller to this day. Inspired by sacred geometry, its intricate design and mesmerizing ball chain structure make it a standout piece in the world of luxury lighting.
When Marianne contacted Willowlamp, the team was thrilled to bring the chandelier back to the factory in Cape Town for a complete refurbishment. A team of skilled master craftsmen ensured that every detail was meticulously restored, maintaining the chandelier’s timeless elegance and heirloom status.
A New Home in Johannesburg.
The Flower of Life chandelier has now found its forever home in the living room at Leopard Frock, Marianne’s magnificent Johannesburg home. This space serves as a veritable gallery of illustrious South African design luminaries, and the chandelier fits perfectly alongside these treasures. The ceiling-mounted Flower of Life adds a touch of magic to this already enchanting setting, embodying the essence of sculptural lighting and ceiling art.
Celebrating South African Design.
This collaboration is more than just a meeting of minds; it is a celebration of South African design. Willowlamp is proud to be a part of this vibrant community of designers and artists. Their bespoke chandeliers and professional lighting designs continue to illuminate spaces with a unique blend of art and functionality.
Thanks to Marianne Fassler for allowing this sneak peek into her private space and for her unwavering support of local design. Her living room, adorned with the Flower of Life chandelier, is a testament to the enduring beauty and innovation of South African design.
Isn’t this ceiling-mounted Flower of Life a thing of wonder in this magical setting?
