Modern Organic

Biophilic Design

What is it? “Biophilic design is about purposefully incorporating nature into our interior spaces, so we can connect to the outdoors. The benefits of biophilic design include increased creativity, reduced stress, quicker healing, improved mood and general wellbeing.”

How to achieve the look? “Many associate the biophilic design trend with house plants, which are seeing a continued boom in interiors around the globe. But the benefits of biophilic design are also reaped from the use of natural light and nature-inspired tones. Think natural forms and natural materials, styled with an abundance of natural light and plenty of greenery.”

Japandi

What is it? “Japandi is an interior design trend that blends the simplicity and elegance of Japanese aesthetics with the comfort and cosiness of Scandinavian design. Bringing together the best of both worlds, the style fuses the concepts of ‘wabi-sabi’ and ‘hygge’ to celebrate simplicity through natural materials and a focus on craftsmanship.”

How to achieve the look? “As the name suggests, Japandi is the interior design approach that is a hybrid of Japanese and Scandinavian aesthetics. The look is minimal, functional, warm and calming; with touches of ‘wabi-sabi’ enthused imperfection. Explore minimalist and functional furniture made from natural materials in neutral hues for this look.”
