Twenty years ago, Barker Street‘s internationally acclaimed brand partner, Muuto, set out with a simple ambition: to bring new perspectives to Scandinavian design. Since then, the Danish brand has become synonymous with thoughtful, contemporary furniture, lighting, and accessories that honour Nordic design traditions while continually challenging convention. This milestone year, celebrated during Copenhagen’s renowned 3daysofdesign festival, marks another exciting chapter as Muuto unveiled new collections, limited-edition pieces, and immersive installations that explore how Muuto Scandinavian design continues to evolve through creativity, craftsmanship, and human connection.

At the heart of the anniversary celebrations was Muuto’s Copenhagen headquarters, where visitors were invited to experience three floors dedicated to the brand’s evolving design philosophy. Alongside previews of upcoming collections, the exhibition showcased the Numbered Edition Designs, created exclusively to celebrate 20 Years of New Perspectives, while also highlighting emerging creative talent through the Muuto Design Contest.

Among the standout pieces is the Close to Heart Chair by Spacon, produced in a limited edition of just 150 numbered pieces. Crafted in Denmark from extruded aluminium, the chair balances clean architectural lines with a subtle heart-shaped detail hidden within its structure. The result is a design that combines precision with warmth, demonstrating how even the smallest gesture can introduce emotion into contemporary furniture.

Equally captivating is the Inner View Object by Danish designer Lise Vester. Positioned somewhere between a sculptural object and a mirror, the hand-finished Murano glass piece explores the relationship between light, reflection, and perception. As daylight moves across its curved surface, it subtly changes the way both the surrounding space and the viewer are perceived, encouraging a quiet moment of reflection. Like the chair, it is available as a limited edition of 150 numbered pieces.

Extending the conversation beyond furniture, Muuto also introduced Next Chapters in Scandinavian Design – Muuto on Creating Intentional Spaces, a new book published by Gestalten. Through essays, photography and conversations with leading designers, it explores the role of colour, form, tactility, light, and nature in shaping contemporary interiors, offering fresh perspectives on the future of Muuto Scandinavian design.
