Decorex 2026: Experience The Soft Life at the SA Décor & Design Stand

At this year’s Decorex Africa, SA Décor & Design invites visitors to step into a space that embodies the quiet beauty of intentional living. The SA Décor & Design stand at Decorex 2026, created by interior designer Toni Anne van der Meulen of Tones Spaces, offers a thoughtful interpretation of The Soft Life, Decorex’s 2026 theme, through a carefully layered environment that celebrates calm, comfort and connection.

Following last year’s bold celebration of colour, pattern and eclectic African Fusion design, Toni Anne approached this year’s concept with a markedly different perspective.

Lighting Modern Vintage

“After last year’s bold celebration of colour, my design for this year’s Decorex stand embraces a much quieter form of beauty,” she explains. “Inspired by Decorex’s 2026 theme, The Soft Life, and guided by Pantone’s Colour of the Year, Cloud Dancer, the concept explores the power of tone-on-tone subtlety through a palette of soft off-whites, natural timbers and layered textures that evoke a sense of calm, comfort and connection.”

The power of restraint

Designed as a sanctuary within the bustling exhibition environment, the stand encourages visitors to slow down and experience how atmosphere can be shaped through thoughtful design. Flowing drapery softens architectural elements, while organic furniture forms, weathered finishes, tactile materials and sculptural accessories create a space that feels warm, grounded and welcoming.

Rather than relying on bold statements, the stand demonstrates the power of restraint. Gentle contrasts, natural textures and carefully curated layers work together to create an environment that feels both uplifting and restorative. It is an exploration of quiet luxury – one rooted in craftsmanship, authenticity and emotional connection.

Soft but powerful

“The result is an environment that feels both grounded and uplifting,” says Toni Anne. “It is a reminder that the softest spaces are often the most powerful, offering a moment of pause, presence and soulful connection in an increasingly busy world.”

Visitors can experience the SA Décor & Design stand at Decorex Cape Town from 25 to 28 June 2026 and at Decorex Joburg from 30 July to 2 August 2026.
