Perfect Hideaways: Xigera Safari Lodge in the Okavango Delta
Set along the western edge of the Moremi Game Reserve, where papyrus swamps weave through ancient forests and floodplains shimmer beneath an open sky, Xigera Safari Lodge offers a considered immersion into the Okavango Delta. Here, within a UNESCO World Heritage landscape, luxury and wilderness exist in deliberate balance.
Twelve expansive, individually curated suites, including a refined two-bedroom family retreat, are discreetly anchored beneath towering indigenous trees. Timber walkways connect living and dining pavilions, while decks open toward uninterrupted Delta views. A sculptural steel structure inspired by the form of a baobab tree stands a kilometre from the main lodge, offering an additional, singular accommodation experience.
Xigera is as much an expression of African artistry as it is of safari tradition. Interiors house a pioneering pan-African art collection featuring works by more than eighty celebrated creatives, embedding cultural narrative into every space. The lodge operates on 98% solar power, reinforcing its commitment to environmental stewardship.
Experiences unfold without rigidity. There are no fixed itineraries – only invitations. Game drives and guided bush walks trace the rhythms of the land, while mokoro excursions and motorboat journeys navigate winding channels edged with papyrus. Guests may opt for catch-and-release fishing, photographic outings or even helicopter flights above the Delta’s shifting mosaic.
Between exploration, life slows. Bush breakfasts beneath the trees, long lunches, sundowners on elevated decks and fireside dinners in the boma shape the days. A spa, meditation deck, gym, art gallery and wine cellar complete the offering.
With capacity for just 26 guests, Xigera remains intimate – a retreat where heritage, conservation and contemporary refinement converge in one of Africa’s most extraordinary settings.
Xigera is available to rent via Perfect Hideaways.
