8 Questions With Audi Snyman Interior Design

As the design industry evolves, so does the concept of ‘good design’. We chatted to Audi Snyman from the premium design house, Audi Snyman Interior Design, and we asked 8 questions to shed light on the industry at large.

How do you determine what is so-called “good” Interior Design?

Good interior design will be “Good” if it allows you to live your best life. Every person’s definition of “Live your best life” is thus different – my aim is to discover that with each client.

What is your own personal philosophy in design?

The basic needs of the end-user in a space should be met whilst providing for their desires and nice-to-haves. As a brand, we promise to consistently and continuously “create bespoke homes with elegance and panache”.

How do you combine beauty and function in a contemporary space?

Function – to subsequently supply what is essential for the space.

Beauty – can be created by:

Article/furniture we introduce in the space, the style of the article/furniture, the colour and or texture of the article/furniture
What will be experienced in this space
The view from the space
Fine art to set the tone of this space
Textures in this space – floor & wall
Feature light in this space

What’s new and exciting in the latest projects you’re involved in?

For two of the residential projects that I am currently working on, we will introduce a lot of natural textures. Timber, natural stone, and handmade products, as well as textured wall finishes, leather and cottons. Consequently, almost no glossy products are used – the only glossy items will be glass, mirrors and taps.

Your clientele is very high-end. Was it always your dream to design for these types of clients?

All my clients will always be treated as VIP, no matter if they are recognised in society as VIP or not. Furthermore, my clients are very important to me and my aim was and will be to serve my clients with respect, and the best design services possible.

What’s the strangest request you’ve received from a client?

A secret bar. Why hide a space that is so beautifully designed?

What is your favourite project to date and why?

A project will remain a favourite project if there was a trusting relationship with my client, we have respected each other, and all phases of the process driven by integrity.
