The New Outdoor Room: DADOquartz® Takes the Bathroom Outside

Outdoor living has always been part of the South African lifestyle, but the idea of the “outdoor room” is evolving. Patios, courtyards and pool areas are no longer simply additions to the home. They are becoming considered living spaces, and increasingly, bathing is becoming part of the experience too, with brands such as DADOquartz® bringing bathware into these outdoor settings.

The outdoor bathroom brings together architecture, landscape and wellness. A freestanding bath positioned in a secluded courtyard, an open-air shower surrounded by greenery, or a bathing space overlooking an uninterrupted view can create a sense of escape without ever leaving home.

Materials matter

Material choice, however, becomes especially important when bathroom products move outdoors. DADOquartz® bathware is particularly suited to these environments. Made from a solid cast material that is UV resistant, DADOquartz® baths can be used outdoors without the need for a surface coating. Their sculptural forms also allow the bath itself to become an architectural feature, equally at home beside natural stone and timber as it is within a contemporary poolside setting.

Take your shower outdoors

The outdoor shower offers another way to rethink the traditional bathroom. JEE-O’s outdoor collection explores this concept extensively, with freestanding showers designed to bring the experience of showering into the open air. The brand’s outdoor offering spans several of its established design series, allowing the shower to become a deliberate part of the landscape rather than a purely functional addition.

Together, an outdoor shower and freestanding bath can transform a private garden, courtyard or pool area into a personal retreat. And the aesthetic need not be rustic or resort-inspired. Clean architectural lines, dramatic finishes and carefully selected natural materials can create an outdoor bathroom that feels every bit as sophisticated as its indoor counterpart.
