The process begins with preparation. A clean, smooth glass surface free from dust, residue, and imperfections is essential, as these could affect adhesion. Using clean water and a simple soap solution, the glass is sprayed and carefully squeegeed rather than wiped, creating an even base for application. During installation, attention shifts to control: minimising airflow, handling the film with lightly moistened hands, and using a quality squeegee to remove excess water. These steps ensure the film settles seamlessly, without creases or inconsistencies.

Once applied, the film enters a crucial curing phase. It should remain undisturbed for at least 24 to 48 hours to allow proper adhesion, preventing premature peeling or bubbling. Cleaning should be avoided for a minimum of 30 days, giving the adhesive time to fully bond to the glass surface. During this period, it is normal for small amounts of residual moisture or slight visual irregularities to appear; these will gradually dissipate, with the film typically drying flat within 30 days and any remaining moisture evaporating within 60 to 90 days.

Ongoing care is equally important. When cleaning is introduced, it should be done gently using a microfiber cloth or soft sponge, paired with a mild soap solution or a specialist product such as SimGlas® Window Film Cleaner. Harsh chemicals, ammonia-based products, vinegar, and abrasive tools should be avoided entirely, as they can damage the surface. After cleaning, excess water should be removed with a soft towel or squeegee to prevent streaking or water spots.
