AIE Acquires Greenside Design Center

AIE, The Academic Institute of Excellence acquires Greenside Design Center and strengthens its position in design education.

AIE, Academic Institute of Excellence announces the recent acquisition of the Greenside Design Center. As AIE welcomes Greenside Design Center into the AIE group of companies, they believe that their expertise in design education will greatly contribute toward expanding both their product offerings. The much expected announcement came, in July 2019, after months of negotiation.

Greenside Design Center is an internationally acclaimed, specialist design college focused on nurturing creative and innovative thinkers. GDC offers a range of degrees, honours degrees and higher certificates in various design disciplines including graphic design, multimedia design and interior design.

AIE believes that this acquisition will lead to enhanced credibility with highly qualified lecturers who are also experts in the field of design. With the combined efforts of the employees they will now be able to take on more students and offer more services. No changes will be made to the roles of the employees. Combining their resources and expertise will prove to be a win-win for both entities.

The acquisition highlights AIE’s capability, expertise, and confidence in taking on another company. Acquisitions are not new to AIE, but this one is to be noted. The target companies in their earlier acquisitions were also specialists in their field of expertise such as Learn3D, Concept Interactive.

Academic Institute of Excellence (AIE) is a family of educational brands, representing some of SA’s leading learning institutes. Known for their innovative approach to quality education, their excellence in delivery and modern technological approach.

AIE and GDC officially joined hands at 100% Design Expo at Decorex – a worthy celebration indeed.

Not only did AIE and GDC exhibit at 100% Design together for the first time but Prof Des Laubscher presented a couple of talks and AIE hosted a full day of talks centred around design education  at the 100% Design Workshop. Other speakers included Dorothy van’t Riet, who shared on Brain Research and how it influences interior spaces, Haldene Martin, iconic South African designer who spoke about his iconic furniture design and Steelcase, who shared about research in interior design.
