Outdoor Living: Ideas For An Inspired Terrace & Patio
The sun is out and it’s the right time to head outdoors and enjoy your exterior spaces. Create an inspired terrace or patio with some of our top tips for the season.
- Pops of colour
Add hints of bold colour to your terrace or patio that will instantly elevate the space. Colourful stools, flower boxes brimming with florals, or even a feature wall in a decadent colour will add appeal and colourful interest in this area. Bright shades are certainly in for the season ahead so embrace vivid fuchsia tones, bold blues or even yellow and orange hues for a playful outdoor area.
2. Create flow from the inside out
Be sure that your patio or terrace does not feel isolated from the rest of your home. This way, you can create a seamless indoor outdoor flow by creating a terrace just off of your backdoor or leading to both the yard and interior of your home. Let it become an extension of your living space and you’ll certainly have an area you’ll use more often. We love the idea of a bar area outside a window, as featured below, linking the patio to a kitchen area, which also makes for a stylish serving hatch.
3. Keep it covered
The African sunshine can be pretty harsh on your skin and furniture. If you’re reinventing your patio or terrace this season, be sure to think about a covering. Shade is often an important factor, so invest in a roofed structure or umbrellas to help offer protection from the elements.
4. Small terrace comfort
Even if your patio is on the small side, do not skimp on comfortable furnishings that will help you make full use of the space. An outdoor sofa, occasional chairs, outdoor cushions and even a rug will soften the space and help to create a cosy area for entertaining.
We love beautiful terraces and outdoor patios! Don’t you?
