The benefits of touch-free taps in the kitchen

The Atlas Neo Sensor is the first handsfree kitchen mixer in Franke South Africa’s range of kitchen mixers. Touch-free sensor taps are becoming more common in our bathrooms, providing ease of use, and reducing the spread of germs. But when you think about it, touch-free sensor taps are even more beneficial in the kitchen, where we tend to spend most of our time. Here are just some of the reasons why:

1. Enhanced hand hygiene

While the bathroom might seem like a germ hotspot when prioritising hygiene in our homes, it’s in the kitchen where we prepare, cook, and eat food and where germs have more opportunity to gather.

Did you know that the average family of four turns on their kitchen mixer tap more than 100 times a day? Infrared, touch-free mixer taps, such as the new Atlas Neo Sensor, can help minimise the number of times you touch your tap. This helps reduce the spread of germs in your kitchen. Whether you’re washing your hands after coming in from outside, before cooking or after handling raw meats, chicken, or fish.

2. A sustainable solution

With the Atlas Neo Sensor, you can pre-set the water temperature. This can help reduce your energy usage and your utility bills. The infrared sensor starts and stops with a simple wave of your hand. This little act of stopping the water for soaping and drying helps save as much as 3 litres of water during every wash. That’s up to 50% less compared to the typical consumption per wash.*

The tap’s construction is made from solid, seamless stainless steel. It doesn’t have any bulging parts, making it easy to keep the tap clean. Furthermore, a non-porous, smooth stainless steel surface ensures rust, limescale and other debris have no place to hide and cannot build up inside or outside the tap.

*Compared to running water continuously on a normal flowrate throughout a recommended 50-second washing procedure.

3. Easy to operate

Safe and easy to use, a no-touch tap features an infrared sensor that activates the water flow with just a wave of your hand. The sensor on the Atlas Neo tap is optimally positioned on the side and has a 5-10cm operating range to prevent accidental use. The water flow will automatically stop after 30 seconds so you don’t have to worry about your sink overflowing whether you’re rinsing fruit and vegetables or filling pots and pans. If you’d like the water to stay on longer or prefer it to be warmer or colder than the pre-set temperature, you can simply use the separate lever handle.

4. Stylishly designed and easy to install

The Atlas Neo Sensor tap is also super-stylish. It comes in a beautiful stainless steel finish to complement every style of kitchen, available in the swivel spout model. The tap, control box and battery case are quick and easy to install within your kitchen cabinets, too.
