The Stone Lab by Stone Connection, part of the Finstone Group, was born from a unique blend of sustainability and craftsmanship. It all began during a business trip to Finstone’s China branch in Xiamen, where Karl Lee recognized an opportunity while walking through a factory. Amidst the surplus of stone offcuts often discarded as waste, we saw potential.

Karl Lee, who had previously worked at a world-renowned architectural firm in Vancouver and NYC, brought his passion for sustainability into the fold, helping to shape the vision that would become The Stone Lab.

Initially conceived as a way to repurpose stone remnants into functional and elegant products, The Stone Lab has since grown into a premium brand, redefining how natural stone is viewed and used. What started as an eco conscious initiative has evolved into Cape Town’s first luxury store dedicated to stoneware, furniture, and architectural elements.
