Max on Top Presents Tuet – Adding Elegant Texture to an Estonian Apartment
Max on Top is proud to supply premium surfaces that inspire creativity for interior designs. One perfect example is the recent project in Tallinn, Estonia, where architects Alesja Kovalenko-Lauri and Mait Lauri of Ako In studio incorporated Tuet deep surface by Arpa®, a product proudly distributed in South Africa by Max On Top, to add texture and rhythm throughout a beautifully designed apartment.
Situated close to Tallinn City centre, Estonia, the apartment designed by architects Alesja Kovalenko-Lauri and Mait Lauri of Ako In studio pays great attention to material selection and spatial design. “With a harmonious blend of material integrity, functional design and environmental sensitivity, the idea was to make cozy and feminine interiors,” continues Ako In, “so we went for warm colours, clear lines and a contemporary touch.”
In dialogue with formal lines and classic design solutions – including linen texture, marble and wooden aesthetics – Tuet deep surface by Arpa®, was chosen to give rhythm and dynamism to the whole space.
“We were in the middle of the design process when I saw examples of Tuet. In that moment we already knew where we wanted to use it. It was like a love at first sight,” the architects say.
The ribbed surface is applied to the entrance’s key drawer and coat hanger’s back wall, to drawers and doors in the walk-in closet, nightstands and home office wall cabinet and to the TV cabinet. Through different rooms and interior fittings, Tuet in Caravella Dark decor shows the play of light of its wavy movement, creating charming contrasts according to different moments of the day.
“We were charmed by the striped texture, mixed darker and lighter lines. Its strong character gave perfect accent to clean and matt surfaces.” Regarding initial doubts on possible manufacturing issues, Ako In changes their mind: “To be honest, we were worried that finishing wavy edges might be a headache for the craftsman, but later the feedback from the furniture maker was great – no problem at all.”
