Rubio Monocoat
Food for thought.
Ever wondered if your wooden surfaces – or wood treatment products such as oils and stains – were food safe?
Well, we have. So, we spoke to the experts at Rubio Monocoat to find out if it is safe to place food items on wood surfaces treated with Rubio Monocoat oil.
Here’s what they had to say…
“As you already know, our Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C has been one of the most versatile wood oils on the market for years. Our oil can be applied to floors, furniture, stairs, etc., and is also ideal for worktops and other surfaces that come into contact with food, because our Oil Plus 2C is Food Contact Compliant.”
But what exactly does that mean?
“As our product lives up to the European toy standard, we also wanted to make sure that our Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C can be used on wood that comes into contact with food. Eurofins has tested Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C according to the underlying specification of European Framework Regulation 1935/2004 for Food Contact Materials, and the test results show that Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C is in full compliance, when applied to a wooden surface.
Eurofins provided us with the Food Contact Compliance Declaration: a declaration that guarantees full compliance with the harmonised legal requirements in Europe regarding all types of materials that come into contact with food. With this declaration, we can answer your frequently asked questions. If you apply our Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C (A + B) on a wooden surface, the surface will be safe for food contact and therefore Food Contact Compliant.”
That means that you can serve aperitifs, snacks and any other food on wooden cutting boards treated with Rubio Monocoat oil or work with food on wooden tabletops and kitchen counters without the slightest worry.
