Plascon House Tour: Studio Living
Today’s rustic studio is a celebration of open spaces, brightness and earthy appeal. It is here, in this decidedly simple and minimalist abode that British fashion designer Anna Valentine finds rest for her body and mind.
The space has an airy, calming atmosphere thanks to the monochromatic colour palette and use of organic materials throughout; an oversized wooden kitchen table, marble counters and tumbled stone floors, worn leather furniture and a ceramics collection all add texture and interest. The herringbone floors are exquisite and add warmth to the stark white walls which extend up toward high ceilings. A homely and inviting space, this residence boasts more than one internal fireplace and speaks to the comfort factor. A modern table and chair are offset against the rustic textured walls and unfinished stone floors. The space also houses Valentine’s design studio – where her clothes feel like an intentional part of the decor. We love that everything is open plan – with a focus on natural light, openness and light which fills most of the abode. A striking trestle dining table becomes a focal point here in soft timber tones, paired with a mix of wooden seats. Old wooden furniture and vintage finds fill the residence – like hidden treasures carefully positioned within the interior. From an antique table and stools to a classic side cabinet, the wooden tones bring warmth and life to this interior. Keeping it neutral, a simple colour palette extends to the wall art where a gallery feature wall is created showcasing framed prints in black and white. The art is abstract yet uncomplicated – adding to the minimalist design which is evident throughout this studio. Styling: Luanne Toms / photography Elsa Young for Elle Decoration Via
