Plascon House Tour: London House
This British residence is filled with a creative expression that is beautifully put together. No wonder then, that it is the London home of an interior designer with a keen eye for art. The overall design style is chic yet vintage with a classic ethnic atmosphere in each room. The designer’s Scandinavian roots are reflected throughout this house, with the discovery of places, as well as his love of art and sculpture.
The living room is simply stunning yet does not feel staged. In fact, it has a clear lived-in relaxed atmosphere with a beautiful mix of memorabilia and the owner’s personal items that bring a touch of whimsy to the place. A brown sofa as statement piece, works to ground the entire room and colour palette with clear pops of pattern in ethnic soft furnishings such as plush throws, scatters and rugs in this area. We love the wide open windows that are refreshing and bright, with a touch of elegance as seen in the vintage-styled chandelier above the living room. The kitchen is also filled with collector’s pieces, perhaps from travels and sentimental collections that are beautifully displayed here. A mix of ceramics, framed art and even brass jugs complete this space. The bedroom is possibly our favourite room in this house with a gorgeous collection of abstract paintings framed beautifully above the bed. A simple colour scheme of black, grey and white, with a few added hints of colour, brings this room to life – in a mix of textures and tones that add warmth here. A gorgeous throw and textured scatters catch the eye, as does two bold lampshades in black that feature on top of stylish white lamp bases (that do not match!). We also love the fringed edging of the bedding and the little details that are present, from the side cabinet to the striped rug – the use of colour and pattern is simply stunning.
