Jax Oleum wood-care
With the festive season and plenty of celebrations around the corner, now’s the time to ensure your outdoor furniture is in tip-top shape to host family and friends. Who better to help than Jax Oleum – a leader in the wood-care sector and a trusted brand in the industry, making them the preferred choice of designers and decorators, too.
Here, the company explains the difference between the different wood coat products available and how to choose the right wood coating for your furniture.
Single Coat Oil-based Wood Stain
“The Jax Oleaum original, Jax Oleum Single Coat Oil-based Wood Stain is incredibly effective and highly durable. Just 1 litre covers about 50m² and takes only one coat to colour and protect your wood against water, heat and sunlight. It is simple to apply – you just need to sand down and clean your natural wood and then apply the Oleum using a cloth. After a few minutes, the Oleum will have penetrated the upper layers of the wood, and then you simply wipe away the excess. It can be used inside and outside for gum poles, window frames, flooring, doors, and furniture. You can also use it on all veneers.
In one application you can change the colour of any absorbent natural wood product to a colour that will enhance the grain and transform the look. We have over 70 colours to choose from, or you can mix existing colours to create your own. We can also match and make up other colours on request, with a minimum order quantity.”
“The 2K matt water-based varnish is good for protecting an already oiled surface; it will add durability and increase the water resistance of the surface it is applied to. It is perfect for bar counters, restaurant table tops, engineered flooring exposed to large volumes of traffic, etc. It is a 2-part varnish – 900ml of base and 100ml harder – that must only be mixed when your surface is fully prepared and ready to be sealed, as it does start to harden once mixed.
Once mixed, apply onto a dry, dust-free surface using a short mohair roller, our Jax Wipes, or a cloth. Leave to dry for a few hours & lightly sand with a 240-grit sandpaper or a maroon buffing pad. Clean the surface before the 2nd coat. A 3rd coat can be applied for heavy-wear areas. Allow drying for 24 hours before using the item/walking on the surface that has been varnished.”
“Jax Deck Oil is the latest urethane-modified oil technology providing optimum protection on hard and soft wood. The reactive urethane groups in the resin react with the lignin in the timber and, together with the light-fast pigments, retard the degradation process.
One litre can cover 20 to 40 square meters, depending on the type of wood and the absorption rate of it.
Offering optimum protection against environmental elements, moisture, UV rays, and general wear and tear, prolonging the life of the wood surface, Jax Deck Oil is suitable for use on various wood surfaces, including decks, fences, outdoor furniture, doors and window frames.
