Spotlight: Collaro Designs

Born out of a sheer passion for beautiful furniture, Collaro Designs was inspired by the creativity of Mario Georgio Collaro who started the company as a small upholstery workshop in downtown Johannesburg in 1981. Over three decades later, Collaro Designs has stood the test of time and can now proudly stand among the design leaders of our time.

Together with his two sons and daughter, M Collaro Designs became the very definition of quality and craftsmanship. With this as their ever-consistent foundation, the family business strives for artistic perfection. Made-to-order is the fundamental element of Collaro Designs. Their unique, bespoke furniture range can be described as eclectic, drawing inspiration from neo-classical, art-deco and contemporary visions. The pure love of raw materials is what governs their focus on tradition and together with technology; a harmonious balance between design and functionality is achieved, ultimately encapsulating the Collaro experience and ensuring only that you enjoy your home. They believe that furnishing is about the experience of living, with the satisfaction of bliss. Design intuition can trigger these emotions that bring pleasure and happiness to a home. These insights come from decades of understanding and so, every design is signed off and defined as beautiful by the Italian designer himself. Collaro also boasts an interior design team whose main strength is in the capacity to fully customise and tailor an interior space in-house from space planning to concept realisation. Their Sandton studio comprises of a meticulous fabric collection represented by South African and International fabric houses and this is where the interior design team guides clients in achieving design balance.

Today the Collaro legacy of luxury continues at their exclusive Sandton showroom, confirming their status as a high-end interior design furnishing store. Here you can find superior furniture pieces for the modern home – from the living room through to the bedrooms and dining rooms.
