Woodlam: specialised furniture
For over 29 years, Woodlam has led the charge in crafting specialised furniture for the restaurant and hospitality industry.
Guided by owner Soren Lassen, the team has honed their skills to create furniture that is not only unique, comfortable and durable but also seamlessly blends with its surroundings.
Woodlam’s roots stretch back over 40 years to Denmark, where Lassen began his journey in furniture manufacturing. Since then, the company has brought its extensive expertise to South Africa, infusing traditional Danish craftsmanship with modern South African flair.
“I have come to realise what we’ve been doing for the past 40 years has much more to do with people and their lives than simply delivering well-made chairs on clients’ orders,” says Lassen.
“Every chair that leaves our factory has been made by hand, with the help of technology and laminating presses which date back decades to the way our Danish forefathers’ design processes.”
Woodlam’s signature moulded plywood pieces are produced using a method that involves layering thin wood veneers and shaping them in moulds under hydraulic pressure. This process not only enhances strength but also eliminates the need for many joints, resulting in a sturdier finished product.
In addition to Woodlam’s commitment to aesthetics and innovation, the company prides itself on the durability of its furniture pieces, making it ideal for the demands of contract and office applications, as well as hospitality and F&B establishments. Plus, with a wide range of wood finishes ranging from blond to exotic timbers to a variety of stained finishes and upholstery options available, Woodlam also offers customisation options to suit every client’s unique needs.
