As the festive season draws closer, we once again find ourselves looking at our patios with a critical eye. This space is about to become the hub of summer, the venue for gatherings and the site of that sumptuous Christmas Lunch, and the New Years countdown party. Time to wave the magic wand and present our rather tired space in a fresh new light. So where do we begin?

I’m sure by now your Festive Season to-do list is growing so let’s keep the first part of your veranda preparation as simple as possible. Best to start with a good cleaning. If you have a power washer now’s the time to grab it. After a good burst of high-power water all the dust, spiders’ webs and tiredness will be gone. What a perfect way to prep your walls for a fresh coat of paint.

Time to access the state of your cushions and scatter cushions. Load the in the machine to bring colours back to life. If your scatters have served you well and still lack lustre after a good wash, now is the time to replace them.

The umbrella is next. Using only a cold wash cycle you can simply put the cover in the washing machine. If your umbrella is a large one, use your power washer to bring those colours back to their former glory.

Now use a critical eye on all the fixtures, furniture, and fittings. Do you need to do repairs? If you need to repaint it might be a good idea for a brand-new bold colour scheme. This is also a very good time to add some new features to your veranda. How about that built in braai you’ve always wanted. What about a new privacy screen, or an easy to build fire pit set about with chairs for extra seating zones in your garden.

Add some festive touches, you can go as far as an outdoor Christmas tree and Christmas inspired scatter cushions or, for a more subtle approach you can simply incorporate festive colours into your existing décor. I love the traditional colours of Christmas and will add touches of green, red, and gold to my patio, but no one says Christmas must be traditional so add your favourite colours to make the space your own.

Add beautiful lighting all around the patio, curling up the trunk of trees and lining the pathways to give a warm inviting look. Fairy lights are magical and perfect for this festive season. We have wonderful lights to offer you achieve this look so come see us.
