Maldini: Darker-Toned Elegance in Contemporary Italian Furniture
A deeper, moodier palette has a quiet confidence of its own – one that favours shadow, texture and materiality over contrast and shine. At Maldini, Porada’s more sculptural, darker-toned pieces come together to show how richness and restraint can coexist beautifully within contemporary interiors.
Designed by David Dolcini, the Chiba side tables are a natural starting point. With their matt black die-cast aluminium bases and drawers crafted from Canaletta walnut, they strike a balance between precision and warmth. Their organic lines and finely finished profiles speak to Porada’s artisanal expertise, making them equally at home beside a sofa or within a refined hospitality setting.
The Argo modular sofa continues this dialogue between strength and softness. Its slim walnut frame contrasts gently with generous upholstered volumes, creating a composition that feels both architectural and inviting. Thoughtful details – sliding shelves in smoked glass, marble-topped tables and optional feather-filled cushions – allow Argo to shift effortlessly between relaxed living and tailored elegance, finished with brushed brass or black chrome feet for added depth.
For moments that call for structure and rhythm, the Ziggy collection introduces consoles and side tables defined by sculptural marble tops and solid walnut or ash bases. Whether with drawers or pared back entirely, these pieces bring a grounded, almost architectural presence to both private and contract spaces.
In the bedroom, the Riga chests and nightstands add texture through their distinctive striped woodwork. Finished in Moka, Wengé or matt lacquer, they bring a quiet sophistication, elevated by satin chrome feet that lift and lighten their visual weight.
Completing the picture is the Ekero valet stand – a Scandinavian-inspired piece that blends function with sculptural clarity. Supported by a marble base and finished with walnut, leather and microfibre details, it embodies Porada’s talent for turning everyday rituals into considered design moments.
Together, these selections show how darker interiors can feel layered, tactile and deeply inviting – a study in modern elegance, curated with intention at Maldini.
Purveyors of luxury Italian furniture, Maldini stocks some of the finest, most exclusive names in the industry, from contemporary designs by Porada, Catellan Italia and Arketip to playful pieces by Qeeboo for the residential, corporate and hospitality sectors.
