In Milan this season, LAGO unveils EVOLVING — not as a collection, but as a manifesto for a new way of living. Presented as a fluid design chapter rather than a fixed aesthetic direction, the concept signals a decisive shift from design as object to design as experience: immersive, adaptive and deeply human.

At the heart of EVOLVING lies an ambitious proposition. Space is no longer conceived as static architecture punctuated by furniture, but as a living organism in perpetual transformation. Light, sound, matter and movement intertwine to create environments that respond intuitively to contemporary life — dissolving conventional distinctions between interior and exterior, function and emotion, technology and atmosphere.

“Design is not just form, but a way of thinking about the world,” says Daniele Lago. “Today it is a living organism, evolving together with people and their needs.” It is a philosophy made tangible throughout the presentation, where architecture becomes permeable, and living spaces unfold as open systems in constant dialogue.

One of the most significant moments in this evolution arrives outdoors. For the first time, LAGO extends its design language into open-air environments, bringing its signature sense of suspension and transparency into direct conversation with the landscape. Iconic glass legs — long associated with the brand’s ethereal aesthetic — now amplify the sensation of weightlessness in exterior settings, softening the threshold between architecture and nature until it almost disappears entirely.

This exploration of fluidity continues with the twentieth anniversary evolution of the Air system. The celebrated Air Roundy Bookcase reinterprets the original suspended concept through softer, organic geometries that introduce a more dynamic rhythm into space. The result is a system that feels less imposed and more instinctive — an architectural gesture that adapts rather than dictates.

Together, the outdoor collection and the renewed Air system articulate a singular vision of continuous living: one in which interiors and exteriors merge seamlessly, and where design becomes an atmospheric condition rather than a finite composition.

Yet EVOLVING extends beyond the visual. With the introduction of the 36e8 Cinema Wall System, LAGO ventures into the acoustic dimension of domestic space, transforming the living room into an immersive sensory environment. Here, sound is not an accessory layered onto architecture, but an integral part of it. The system creates a spatial experience that can be heard as much as seen — adding perceptive depth and emotional resonance to the contemporary home.

The kitchen, meanwhile, emerges as the emotional and architectural centre of this evolving narrative. With the new 36e8 Formae kitchen, rigid linearity gives way to angled geometries and sculptural monolithic volumes that blur the line between utility and expression. More than a functional zone, the kitchen becomes a spatial system in its own right — an architecture within architecture.

This vision finds physical expression in the new LAGO Kitchen Store in Milan, the brand’s first city space dedicated entirely to the kitchen universe. Located at one of LAGO’s historic Milanese addresses, the 105-square-metre environment operates less as a showroom and more as an immersive design destination. Four distinct kitchen compositions unfold through the space, from island configurations facing the street to more intimate linear arrangements deeper within the interior. A dedicated materials library further reinforces the tactile dimension of the experience, allowing visitors to engage directly with finishes, surfaces and construction innovations.

“The kitchen is the beating heart of the home,” notes Daniele Lago. “The space where every daily gesture becomes an experience.” Within EVOLVING, that philosophy is elevated into a broader reflection on domesticity itself: living as connection, expression and emotional exchange.

During Milan Design Week, the concept radiates beyond the Salone del Mobile into the city itself. The LAGO Flagship Store on Via Durini becomes an immersive extension of the installation, while a temporary garden — created in collaboration with Le Tribute and Anthology by Mavolo — transforms the space into a convivial urban oasis where nature and design coexist in effortless harmony.

Behind the poetic narrative lies a clear strategic trajectory. According to Gilberto Negrini, the company’s evolution extends across every aspect of the business, from international expansion to new market opportunities. Growth, here, is positioned not as scale alone, but as the capacity to bring a distinctly human-centred vision of design into increasingly diverse global contexts.

Ultimately, EVOLVING resists the idea of completion. It is not presented as a final statement, but as an open system — mutable, porous and continuously transforming. In LAGO’s world, living is no longer defined by boundaries or objects, but by experience itself: fluid, sensory and profoundly interconnected.
