Contour Daybed by Haldane Martin
Inspired by our desire to reconnect to the natural world, the new Contour Daybed by Haldane Martin with its graceful circular geometries, restrained palette and oversized volumes is an icon in the making.
Recently unveiled by the Cape Town-based furniture design studio, the daybed was designed by the man behind the brand, Haldane Martin.
Renowned for his contributions to the South African design lexicon, Martin combined his passion for design with his love of the outdoors to create this unique piece that connects with nature in beauty and comfort.
Here, Haldane Martin talks about the design’s striking main features.
The frame
“The Contour Daybed’s tubular framework is Marine-Grade stainless steel (SS316), offered in 22 powder-coated colours, an innovation pioneered by us. Select your Contour with or without a shade-giving canopy.”
The materials
“This customisable, oversized feature piece is made from robust materials. The upholstery fabric is Crevin Fiji IMP, a durable high-end jacquard weave fabric in eight colour options. With a layer of water-resistant lamination, the fabric provides excellent indoor-outdoor adaptability while the superior upholstery foam ensures a memorable seating experience.”
The canopy
“The Contour Daybed with Canopy is a bold architectural statement. The open-basket weave design of the Screentex canopy fabric ensures optimum transparency and appropriate modulation of natural light. Experience the splendour of wild places with peace of mind, adding a Contour Daybed weather cover.”
The Contour Daybed is available on order with a 12-week lead time.
