Cassina’s Le Corbusier® Collection: Timeless Icons at True Design
This year, Cassina celebrates six decades of continuous production of one of design’s most revered collections: the Le Corbusier®, Pierre Jeanneret®, Charlotte Perriand® Collection. More than furniture, these pieces embody a turning point in modernity; a radical dialogue between form and function that reshaped twentieth-century interiors and continues to feel startlingly fresh today.
Following the success of Staging Modernity at Milan Design Week, Cassina’s store windows worldwide now spotlight the special editions of the collection’s first four models, each with its own story, presence, and timeless design logic.
Reaffirming its dedication to both preservation and innovation, Cassina highlights how these works remain as relevant in a contemporary home as they were at their 1929 debut.
Fauteuil dossier basculant (1929)
A lightweight chair with colonial echoes, its compact form embodies functional elegance. First unveiled at the Paris Salon d’Automne, it remains a study in balance and proportion.
Fauteuil Grand Confort, petit modèle – durable
Perhaps the most recognisable icon of modern design, this archetype separates structure and cushion in a way that mirrors architectural principles. A piece that defined Rationalism, still perfectly at home in today’s interiors.
Fauteuil Grand Confort, grand modèle – durable
A larger, more generous interpretation, realised with tubular steel supports and loose cushions. Cassina’s close collaboration with Charlotte Perriand, her daughter Pernette, and the Fondation Le Corbusier ensures each edition honours the original spirit while offering contemporary finishes.
Chaise longue à réglage continu – durable
Sculptural, sensual, and endlessly adaptable. Designed in 1928, this chaise longue epitomises modern comfort, allowing the body to recline in pure harmony with its form.
Cassina is locally available at True Design. Stockists of the finest authentic designs, True Design represents several premium international brands in South Africa.
