Oggie Flooring chosen for the Onyx Penthouse
The Onyx is a successful repurposing of the iconic Nedbank Building. Just 10 minutes’ walk from the V&A Waterfront it offers residents an opportunity to live in sophisticated, urban apartments and penthouses located in the cultural heart of Cape Town.
A Penthouse of Distinction
Oggie Flooring had the pleasure of being involved in the design at Onyx. European Oak was used to create a timeless flow – in the dining room, passage, study and stairs of this Onyx Penthouse.
A trendy Oggie herringbone floor design was selected in a greymist colour. This herringbone pattern draws the eyes in. Furthermore, it adds to a sophisticated and modern look. We love the intricacy of the layout with the herringbone pattern becoming a feature in itself within this space. The muted palette with hints of gold add a touch of glam to this space. Lots of natural lighting enhances the interior and ensures a bright and welcoming retreat from city life.
The Onyx is the perfect hub within Cape Town city. The apartments range in size from compact studios of 35 square metres to expansive penthouses with roof gardens and private pools at over 400 square metres. The Onyx offers purchasers a wide choice of sectional title real estate. But whatever suits your lifestyle and your pocket, as an owner – or a resident – you will enjoy access to a suite of services and amenities usually only offered in a luxury hotel.
Inside and out, the Onyx is breathtaking. According to the architect Robert Silke, the team was tasked with transforming this gleaming office block into a mixed-use building for residential and hospitality use. He explains: “The shallow floor plates and large expanses of glass make this A-grade corporate icon perfect for residential conversion.”
“We’re going to intervene surgically in the façcade with futuristic and curvaceous aluminium balconies. In so doing, we’ll be animating the striking black onyx surfaces with luxurious, yacht-like terrace features in crisp white.”
