Rebel Walls Unveils The New La Chinoiserie Wallpaper Collection
Say bonjour to the luxurious yet sophisticated La Chinoiserie collection by Rebel Walls from St leger and Viney
Featuring flowy hand-drawn weeping willows, citrus trees, exotic birds and swirling butterflies, La Chinoiserie is a feast for the senses. The collection is very versatile and offers many style combinations, allowing you to create a wonderful atmosphere in no-time.
Chinoiserie (pronounced “Shen-wah-seh-ree”) comes from the French word chinois, meaning “Chinese”, or “after the Chinese taste” and was created in Europe during the rise of the trade with the Far East in the 17th and 18th century, when European artists got inspired by the mythical and glamorous Asian influences. The style became very popular – and still is. And it’s easy to understand why!
“To create an artistic chinoiserie collection has been a dream for us and has been highly requested by interior designers worldwide. When my designer colleague Linda and I started sketching ideas for the collection, we came across the talented artist Diane Hill who was the perfect match for the designs we had already begun creating”, Design Manager Johanna Ek says.
Hence, Rebel Walls has collaborated with the UK based artist Diane Hill for two of the designs. Hill has been trained by master painters in China and is specialized in hand-drawn chinoiserie wallcoverings and bespoke murals.
“I work mostly with hand-drawn murals straight on the walls in private homes and businesses, but I absolutely love that Rebel Walls are making my creations accessible to everyone,” says Diane Hill.
The trend collection consists of five designs with four easy-to-match shades in pearl gray, powder beige, jade green and a calming blue that allows you to make a stunning first impression, whether you are planning a makeover at home, or to create some pure magic at a restaurant or hotel lobby. Besides, Rebel Walls offer a flexible sizing solution that makes this collection suitable for any space.
