Decorex 2024 Rich in Colour and design

Rich in symbolism and persuasive power, colour has been effectively employed for decades to influence how we feel and act. From advertising to interior design, creatives have long been utilising the colour spectrum to not only influence our moods but also how we act, especially in relation to a space.

To highlight the power of colour in interior design, Plascon is collaborating with Gauteng-based interior designers GLE Interiors, Living Inspired Interiors, and Ndibali Interior Designs for this year’s Decorex Joburg.

Tasked with showcasing the dynamic possibilities of colour via Plascon Colour Design Pods, each studio will create a roomscape using select colours from the Plascon Colour Forecast for 2024.

For their Plascon Colour Design Pod, GLE Interiors, a leading interior architecture studio based in Sandton, will curate its colour combination from a variety of hues in Plascon’s 2024 Colour Forecast, such as nature-inspired blues like Caribbean Sea (G7-A1- 2), North Beach (B4-B1-1), Aqua Pura (G7-C2-2) and Innuendo (B3-B1-3); natural warms like Rich Spanish Gold (Y1-C1-1), Ginger Biscuit (O1-C1-1) and Turkish Tart (Y2-B1-3); and dusky romantic shades like Grey Archo (P1-E1-3), Ravine (62) and Fragrant Flower (B7-D1-4).

Interior design consultancy and online decor store, Living Inspired Interiors will showcase how subtle colours like grey can be used to anchor a space when paired with lighter colours. For their Plascon Colour Design Pod, the studio will combine the light pink hue You’re My Sweetie (O4-C2-2) and soft off-white of Light Reflection (Y6-A2-3) with cool dark grey Ewa (72) for a mix of modern yet gentle appeal.

Meanwhile, bespoke furniture and interior design firm Ndibali Designs will tackle the Origin colour palette with four distinct room settings – one for each day of Decorex Joburg. Days one and two will present dining settings designed to demonstrate versatility in these areas, while days three and four will feature organic living rooms.

Decorex Joburg will run from 1-4 August at the Sandton Convention Centre. Visitors to Decorex Joburg will be able to view the Plascon Colour Design Pods in the Decor Hall on Level 5.
