Austria’s most important multidisciplinary and curated design festival. Beyond the preoccupation with the design of products, it poses the question of what role the work of designers* plays for coexistence in the city and worldwide. Since 2007, VIENNA DESIGN WEEK has been a defining part of Vienna’s design landscape. Organized by an independent association, the festival comprises around 200 events and welcomes 40,000 visitors each year.

In celebration of Heritage and Tourism Month, a special edition of Kuier@TheCastle – Cape Town CBD’s biggest monthly family-friendly creative and lifestyle event – will pay tribute to South Africa’s rich cultural diversity. Taking place on 28 September, this edition will highlight the talents of local craft artisans, performers, and designers, showcasing the unique cultural heritage that shapes our creative economy.
Hosted by the Craft + Design Institute (CDI) in collaboration with the Castle of Good Hope, Kuier@TheCastle has become a must-visit event for locals and visitors in Cape Town. This event is ideal for the entire family, combining local artisanal products, interactive creative workshops, delicious local foods, and vibrant live music. Additionally, visitors will enjoy full access to all of the Castle’s museums and exhibitions throughout the day.

Belele nje, Abathulanga curated by the visionary Khanyisile Mbongwa, brings together art, music, and thought-provoking discussions centred around our cultural heritage. Spanning three days, the festival features academic symposiums, live performances, film, fine dining, and immersive workshops.
Belele nje, Abathulunga (“They may be asleep but they are not quiet / Hulle slaap dalk, maar hulle is nie stil nie”) explores the conceptions of geological time in the spirit of holding space. Working with soil as an archive that holds stories from the past, present and future. evoking – Rematriation / Inheritance / Ecological grief as love. Featuring the likes of Sethembile Msezane, Lady Skollie, Buhlebezwe Siwani, Stephanie Conradie, Zolani Mahola, Attiyah Khan.
Attendees can enjoy children’s workshops, garden picnics, and exclusive wine and vodka tastings. This festival will engage all your senses, offering a truly unique experience across all three days.
