Decor and Design Events Not To Be Missed This Week

We’re spoiled for choice this season with the latest in industry events worldwide. Don’t miss these upcoming decor and design events to inspire. 
6-15 September 2024

Helsinki Design Week returns for its 20th event in 2024, hosting exhibitions, tours, talks, workshops, parties and networking opportunities. The events explore architecture, fashion, interior design, product design, graphic design and material innovation. Helsinki Design Week 2024 takes place from 6 to 15 September 2024 at various locations across Helsinki, Finland.

 

 

Paris Design Week

5-14 September

Annual design festival Paris Design Week returns in September 2024, hosting exhibitions, installations, talks, open showrooms and networking opportunities. The 10-day event takes place across four districts in the capital city, stylised as: Rive Gauche; Marais – Bastille – République; Opéra – Concorde – Étoile; and Palais-Royal – Place des Victoires – Pigalle. Paris Design Week 2024 takes place from 7 to 16 September 2024 at various locations across Paris, France.

 

 

BuildFest 2024
Nigeria 11-15 September 2024
Bethel, USA

Bethel Woods Art and Architecture Festival (BuildFest) returns for 2024, marking its third edition with a programme of lectures, parties and performances. Lectures are hosted by Katie MacDonald, co-founder of After Architecture, and Greg Corso, co-founder of Sports Collaborative. This year’s edition also features installations by the faculty and students of Auburn University, Princeton University, Syracuse University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Cornell University.

Habitare 2024Helsinki, Finland
11 -15th September 

Helsinki-based design fair Habitare returns in 2024, showcasing showcasing furniture, lighting, materials and accessories across five days in September. This year’s event follows the theme Layers, which addresses the levels of design involved in interiors, including decade-based trends, styles and forms. Layers also explores the circular nature of products and trends.

Outside of the fair, showrooms in Helsinki are open to visitors, hosting various events and activities.

Czech Design in London

The Embassy of the Czech Republic hosts an exhibition showcasing the work of Czech industrial design brands.

Participating brands include Alca, Bomma, Klimchi, LD Seating, Mmcité, M&T, Novavita, Polstrin, Preciosa Lighting, Ravak, Rim, Rückl, Todus, Ton and USSPA. Alongside the exhibition, Dezeen’s co-CEO Ben Hobson is moderating a panel discussion with designers Jakub Pollag, Dagmar Zvoníčková Fredholm and David Karásek.

Czech Design in London takes place from 5:00pm to 10:00pm on 11 September 2024 at the Embassy of the Czech Republic, 26-30 Kensington Palace Gardens, London W8 4QY, UK.

 

 

Shanghai, ChinaThe China International Furniture Fair (CIFF)

11 to 13 September 2024.

The China International Furniture Fair (CIFF) taking place in Shanghai marks the event’s 54th edition, taking place from 11 to 13 September 2024.The fair showcases indoor and outdoor furniture, textiles, workplace design and interior design products.The four-day event is the second CIFF edition to take place in 2024, following the Shanghai fair in March.

 

Zurich Design Week
12-29 September 2024

Zürich, Switzerland

 A wide audience to visit various exhibitions, installations and events. Ateliers and stores open their doors, established brands present their novelties and designers give an insight into their work. The three-week festival brings together established events and institutions and offers an extensive supporting program with talks, city tours and workshops.

13-19 September 2024
Brussels, Belgium
Designblok Cosmos is touching down in a unique metallic capsule mounted on a space-age six-wheeler. Bringing ten original glass works made by ten foremost contemporary Czech designers, this unique exhibition offers an immersive audiovisual show overlooking the infinite vistas of space. Through experimenting with glass – the traditional Czech material – the exhibited objects present unique design approaches, fine craftsmanship and the Czech glass masters’ know-how, while showing the diverse technologies and most cutting-edge production methods used in Czech factories and workshops. The concept for this exceptional show developed in conversation among the Designblok team and the PPF Foundation, who were searching for ways to spread awareness about Czech design in the world.
