THE BOHOHO – May we introduce Maximalism at its finest
An exceptional property in an even more exceptional location, the BOHOHO in Bakoven, Cape Town, celebrates the nostalgic charm of the 1960s with contemporary flair.
Overlooking the crystalline waters of the Indian Ocean, the beautifully renovated property epitomises eclectic detail and artistic expression, making it a popular choice for film and location shoots, offering a drop-dead gorgeous backdrop and endless inspiration.
Blending mid-century modern architecture with glam-rock pop art influences, what makes the property truly special is its ability to transport guests back to a time of glamour and leisure. Here, every moment feels like a scene from a vintage film, where a Sinatra record plays softly in the background, a martini is in hand, and the unspoken charm lingers in the air.
Upon entering through the striking turquoise front door, an all-white breezeblock staircase leads guests to a stunning terrace, offering an unparalleled view of Table Mountain, Signal Hill, and the ocean. The shaded terrace is furnished with a modern green sofa and armchairs, perfect for lounging, alongside an antique six-seater dining table that encourages conversation beneath the sun. Surrounded by vibrant ivy, the pool serves as a centrepiece, seamlessly accessible from all bedrooms.
Inside, the whimsical touches of Jonathan Adler, an American potter, author, and interior decorator, are evident, with lip-themed motifs artfully scattered throughout the space. The kitchen features custom-made turquoise cabinetry with gold handles, while Palm Springs-inspired rattan furniture adds a laid-back yet luxurious touch to the overall ambience, and geometric-patterned wallpaper adds a layer of fun, further enhancing the playful atmosphere.
BOHOHO is available to rent for film and location shoots.
