The African Touch Partners With Women Unleashed Interiors

Last year, Melanie van der Merwe from Women Unleashed Design in Namibia reached out to the team from The African Touch to see if they could work together and provide some custom furniture pieces for a Namibian-based project. The Women Unleashed team had a client that wanted them to create a “unique – high end experience, taking you back into time with absolute luxury – reminding us that life is beautiful”. It needed to be “the most beautiful lodge in Namibia with bucket list experience”. Here is the magic that came together…

Reminiscent of a by-gone era and enveloped under canvas, the main lodge welcomes you to relish the slow, unhurried pace of life in the wilderness. Thoughtfully designed for lazy afternoon aperitifs or post-safari tipples, the heart of Gmundner lodge is drenched in safari nostalgia. Furthermore, it features handcrafted campaign furniture and inviting lounge spaces scattered with antique safari curiosities, telescopes and binoculars. Here you can find beautifully customized Roorkhee Campaign Chairs with ‘crazy horse’ tan leather seats and campaign folding tables from The African Touch.

The art of slow living

Dining at Gmundner Lodge is purposefully relaxed, allowing guests to relish the art of slow living. The African Touch Deluxe Director’s Chairs, used here as dining chairs, as well as a Mahogany Hemingway Field Bar, look exquisite in their natural setting.

Gmundner Lodge boasts eight single suites sleeping two and four family suites. Set away from the main lodge, the suites reveal a vision of old-world safari splendour cocooned beneath a swath of billowing canvas.

Soft leather chairs, rich mahogany campaign furniture, antiques, and artefacts adorn the interior. This subsequently creates an invitation for leisure and indulgence. Inside the suites, you can find The African Touch Namib Desk used as the perfect dressing table. The Kalahari Campaign Desk with Kruger Directors Chair also looks out over the Namibian landscape. You’ll also find Campaign Luggage Racks and Campaign Bedside tables. All with beautiful brass corners and fittings for that extra touch of class and elegance.
