Roche Bobois: A Double Penthouse Styled to Perfection

Step inside this immaculate double penthouse where Roche Bobois has furnished each space in timeless elegance. The home boasts an almost absolute 360 degree view of  Cape Town skies from the sea to Table Mountain.

The tasteful owner wanted a reminder of the Haute Couture collections in almost every room… the outdoor terrace comes alive with the Missoni outdoor Mah Jong and small Cute Cuts.

Designed by Hans Hopfer in 1971, the Mah Jong sofa is an iconic model of the Roche Bobois collections, and offers total freedom of form and function. From three simple elements, stacked or juxtaposed, the Mah Jong allows for infinite compositions. Each cushion is entirely made and sewn by hand in a dedicated workshop. Dressed in exclusive fabrics, the Mah Jong remains a reference of creativity and modularity.

Step inside

One of the living rooms features a collection of Hyago sofas covered in fabrics from the last luxurious Kenzo Takada collection with a touch of gold for Roche Bobois. Hyago is designed by Antoine Fritsch & Vivien Durisotti. This typical basket shape takes up the codes of the 1920s and modernizes them with its back in a fabric entirely covered with embroidered flowers, contrasting with the understated grey on the seat. The two-tone gold / dark grey finish on the base gives this model a very sophisticated look.

Inside the home you’ll find rich textures, art, exquisite upholstery and so much more. The Roche Bobois’ collections add to the magical allure of each room. In the living space, the Pollen coffee tables, with it’s intricate structure that draws us in, adds a fresh textured feel to the room. Furthermore, here you’ll also find the famous LIFT buffet bar in Jean Nouvel blue in the background. This Lift bar is available on order in various dimensions and about 30 colourways of daquacryls.

In a corner, the bold Eden Rock leather armchairs beckon. Sacha Lakic designed the Eden Rock chair featuring an enveloping shell and backrest padding which reflect the rhythm of the collection.

All in the details

With great attention to detail, every feature adds to the whole in this beautifully styled penthouse. In anothe corner of the living room on the first floor of the penthouse, 4 cubes by C. Lacroix  add dimension, with a beautiful turquoise Lady B armchair. Furthermore, Lady B is an original, poetic, and eco-friendly reinterpretation of the “conversation” armchair.

Next, step inside the family room, which is an extension of the kitchen and includes some iconic pieces, such as the red PAPILLON sideboard (numbered piece) and the OMEGA bookcase, which is so beautifully displayed against this exceptional painted wall.

Papillon is by René Bouchara who imagined a sideboard which evoked images of the grace of a butterfly and at the same time the elegance of a sports car. It is a beautiful, inspirational piece with a story to tell.

And let’s not forget the classy bedrooms. Here a chic Cassiopee leather bed steals the show, paired with funky night stands. Designed by Cédric Ragot, this refined bed is upholstered entirely in leather. Furthermore, there are no sharp angles, only curves, found even in the rounded shape of the cast aluminium base. The two back cushions can be raised and tilted (mechanically or electrically) for optimal comfort.

Take a look at the images and let this inspire you!
