House Tour: A Modern London Townhouse
Bold patterns and pops of bright hues, together with a collection of modern furnishings draw us into this contemporary six-bedroom Georgian townhouse in Central London.
It’s a home filled with joy and energy which can be felt in almost every room. Brightly coloured walls and accessories bring a pop of freshness to the living spaces. There is an element of surprise as you walk in. A wall is crosshatched with vivid bolts of magenta, turquoise and yellow offset with peachy chairs.
Patterns are everywhere. Yet, these do not overwhelm the interior. Used as accent tones in the space, the many patterns and bright shades add contrast and interest against a neutral backdrop.
Designers certainly took some risks in this home… mixing old with new, brights with neutrals – and creating something that’s both classic and fresh. We love the contrast it brings.
From the living spaces to the dining room, colour speaks volumes. Here, bold blue built-in storage units pop against light beige walls. It’s a vibrant space without feeling overwhelmingly eclectic. There is beauty in the blending of colours here.
The master bedroom features a much softer palette without compromise. Here, bold wallpaper enhances the space with geometric patterns. A blue upholstered headboard is both playful and bold in this space. Accent pillows and a rug tie it all together.
Each room takes on its own personality, yet a common thread of colour and pattern can be seen throughout. This home is a perfect lesson on how to push the limits of colour without going crazy.
