SAOTA: A Majestic Kloof Residence With Mountain Views
In one of the most prominent roads in Cape Town, SAOTA has designed a majestic residence to suit the lifestyle of a modern family. This home at Kloof 119A was designed for Architect and director of SAOTA in Cape Town, Greg Truen.
The design aims to frame the views of the city with gorgeous sights of Lion’s Head and Table Mountain to the side and back of the property. The aim was certainly to make the most of these amazing views – surrounded by the natural landscape of Cape Town’s renowned mountainscapes.
Outdoor living was therefore just as important as the interior. The design included a pristine pool and outdoor deck area with those majestic mountain views. The result is an exterior that feels a closed off from the busy streets of Cape Town. A solace in a bustling neighbourhood!
Natural rock and stone, geometric angles and no visually unearthing colours or material accents were used in order to keep this balance between the home and nature.
Overall, this three-level home is a glorious, stylish retreat. The top level has the most impressive views and the key living spaces are located on this level: the open-plan kitchen, the dining room and lounge. The family’s work and bedroom spaces are on the mid-level with the garage, gym, cinema and guest room on the lower level.
Each level has its own gardens and courtyards. These gardens extend from the mountain surface down against the house, screening the neighbouring buildings and allowing light into spaces that would otherwise be dark and isolated.
A haven in the city and a beautiful sculptural residence!
