House Tour: Unconventional Brittany Cottage
This sober and contemporary farmhouse in Brittany is beautifully styled with clean, modern furnishings and a distinct urban style that is both trendy and sophisticated. Far from refined and conventional, this home is filled with hidden elements and raw edginess that we adore.
The living room is clean and contemporary – with a fireplace that takes centre stage against a rustic feature wall on the one end of the room. Beautifully upholstered sofas are oh so inviting and we love the simplicity of art and frames in this area. An eclectic mix of coffee tables adds a new dimension here. There are hints of black metal finishes throughout this modern abode – adding to the urban modern style that is subtly present throughout. Special attention has been paid to each decorative element, such as stunning wall sconces or sub-sloping black window frames with unique opening mechanisms. Far from the usual clichés, this house is a Zen refuge for those looking for authenticity and contemporary spirit. A simple master bedroom takes on an entirely different feel with a master bath in the room. Hints of grey, black and white complete the look of the room and an off-centre artwork features above the bed. The room works as a blank canvas with pops of black in an intricate metalwork feature above the bath, decor accents on each bedside table, and a modern floor lamp. The dark grey wooden floors flow into the bathroom where there is a clever use of a vintage styled filing cabinet as focal piece here. Slanted ceiling and feature window adds charm and a streamlined sink and vanity brings a touch of contemporary sophistication in this space. Again, this room is a mix of modern and traditional – a play on styles that is refreshing! Colour Paint schemes visit Plascon:
