The Reserve: World Class Living Meets World Class Technology

The Reserve, a beautiful new development boasting prime positioning within Zululami Luxury Coastal Estate on the KZN North Coast is as exclusive as the name suggests. This brand-new residential offering introduces an entirely new dimension where contemporary homes are creatively curated by homeowners, using trailblazing technology not yet seen in South Africa.

For those unfamiliar with the gems of the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast, the 140-hectare Zululami Luxury Coastal Estate lies in the most spectacular natural setting amid wetlands, coastal forest overlooking pristine Sheffield Beach. The estate also shares reciprocity of amenities and facilities with its luxurious neighbouring estate, Seaton, both upmarket developments created by Collins Residential. At Zululami all residents have direct, private access to the superb stretch of coastline via Seaton. Expect kilometres of cycling, walking and running trails through a magnificent coastal landscape where common respect for the rehabilitated environment and its ongoing preservation is championed.

Eco-Conscious Living

It is here that you will find The Reserve – a boutique development that will ultimately comprise 60 exclusive three and four-bedroom freestanding homes that offer a sought-after slice of coastal bliss coupled with considered and modern eco-conscious architectural designs, set within a wealth of preserved natural assets.

Brainchild of Collins Residential Directors, Murray Collins, Geoff Perkins, and joint venture partner Haden Keeton, of Treble Developments, The Reserve was introduced as a novel residential concept within Zululami. It is a spectacular residential offering that is revolutionising the development space on the KZN North Coast, and, the developers believe, South Africa too.

A transformative online toolkit

Based on the forward-thinking concept used in Elon Musk’s electric car company, Tesla, which allows a buyer to design their car’s finish online; the developers, together with Ian Rall of Bloc Architects and Lot Marketing merged international home-building technologies with local market trends to create an online toolkit for the discerning South African homeowner. And the results will be transformative.

The Reserve’s Home Customiser is an intuitive and innovative online toolkit that draws homeowners right into the creative heart of the design process. Once they’ve visited the site and selected their stand, the toolkit comes into play.

According to Geoff Perkins, “The digitally-based tool helps to reduce the stress which often accompanies a new build. It’s an easy, enjoyable process for the tech-savvy. We also understand that people need to touch-and-feel, so our recently completed show house offers interested buyers a chance to interact in the space, see the finishes and experience in person, what this development has to offer.”

Design from start to finish

While the purchase and build process is fully supported by a seasoned team of hands-on professionals, the more adventurous or those not necessarily able to pay Zululami a site visit, can, from the comfort of their couch, choose a desired plot and get fully involved in designing their home from start to finish. From tweaking the layout, customising the design, to making choices relating to exteriors, interiors, and a range of exquisite finishes including decking, pools, braai areas, home automation, backup power solutions and more, homeowners have the option to jump online and immerse themselves into their build with the click of a mouse. “And,” adds Perkins, “because each available home option is automatically priced, it allows buyers to effortlessly manage their budgets too.”

“We know that designing and building your own home can be the most exciting and satisfying journey,” says Patrick Lambie of Collins Residential. “It starts with discovering the perfect piece of land but from that point onward, it’s not always plain sailing. Neither designing nor building is an exact science. It can be overwhelming and expensive. This is what makes The Reserve extraordinary. Aside from being aesthetically and architecturally exceptional, the developers have robustly applied themselves to alleviating the factors that typically make a home-build onerous.”

A seamless process

“This is why we’ve made things simple for the homeowner,” he explains. “We understand that, for the experienced buyer or first-time buyer and home builder, the human element is an essential component of the journey. So, while our digital toolkit is an innovative way in which to alleviate common stressors like managing unforeseen costs and design decisions, our team are on the ground to guide new homeowners through the exciting and creative process of creating their living space.” Added to this, the developers manage the entire construction process, so all that’s left is for purchasers to enjoy the process of seamlessly adding the final touches from a curated library of finishes and fixtures.

The Reserve’s statement homes were conceived by Dave Nelson of Bloc Architects, who has crafted an ultra-modern design that responds to the magnificent location. This is masterfully iterated at the recently unveiled show house, which simply exudes elegance. A combination of complementary materials from steel to concrete, glass and aluminium, raw brick, and timber elements have been incorporated into the architectural language.

Seamless customisation, flexibility, and choice are, according to Treble Developments Haden Keaton, also high on the list of priorities. “People are drawn to the safety and comfort of an estate but are moving away from uniform, monochrome living. The appeal of a uniquely designed home with an easily maintained, perfectly designed garden with plunge pool and courtyard repose really resonates with those seeking the pleasures of coastal living.”

If you’ve been daydreaming of your dream home, your dream build… The Reserve looks to be making it that much more attainable! With private beach access on warm KZN shores, walkways and nature trails, a fitness park, an eco-designed communal swimming pool and icon Wetlands Clubhouse… life at The Reserve is complete.

PS: Word on the street is that this is one of the very best developments in Zululami. The first few homeowners to snap up prime sites couldn’t agree more!
