Thammada – Paola Navone for Superstudio PIÚ – My Own Gallery

Nelle mani delle donneis a project curated by Gisella Borioli dedicated to female creativity between art, design, architecture and craftsmanship, with the exhibition “I Fiori della Materia” and “Narcisi Fragili”.

“I Fiori della Materia” brings together designers and architects of different ages and backgrounds: from furnishing objects to sculpture to architecture, each woman presents her being and her work, freeing disciplinary boundaries, as well as prejudices.

Paola Navone presented her creative philosophy “Thammada”.

Thammada is the Thai word to indicate simple and ordinary things.

Just like a little magic, even the most ordinary object presented in a different and a little bit special way, unexpectedly becomes something extraordinary and surprising.

The Thammada spirit can have many lives and many shapes .

Thammada is a pattern.

An imaginative digital camouflage of large red, fuchsia and blue flowers is mixed to a geometric and analogic polka dot texture in black and white.

Hopping joyfully from one thing to another with never stopping.

It has colored the furnishings, like the armchairs by Gervasoni and Rubelli and their fabrics.

It has colored the walls, covering them with NLXL wallpaper and the surfaces of Abet Laminati.

It has colored a Swatch and it went for the first time on the wrist of people, in a limited edition of 888 pieces and has become also a Maxi Swatch.

Transforming everyday objects once again into something unexpected, fun and pop.

Thammada is also a book.

Because also in the interior projects the “Thammada philosophy” plays a very important role.

It means creating special connections between “traveling objects” that tell their little history of the world.

And it means recovering, transforming and giving things a new chance to live, interpreting the theme of reuse in a fun and creative way.
