Plascon House Tour: A Stylish Brooklyn Brownstone Home

Today’s tour takes us to NYC – the city that never sleeps – where interiors are also shaping the way we experience contemporary living today. This beautiful Brownstone townhouse is located in the bustling district of Brooklyn. A complete renovation has taken this home from a dark and dreary space to a light-filled and inspired family abode.

Upon entering this newly renovated property, guests are greeted with a light and spacious hallway. Here, an oversized circular mirror sets the trend and bounces light around this space, while white painted floorboards and potted ferns add to the fresh look.

Storage has been fully maximised in this home, right from the entrance which boasts floor to ceiling storage cupboards in the hallway. One can never have too much storage, right?

The hallway leads into a homely living space, decked out in natural fibres and woody textures, and then leading into a garden area. This space is also linked to an open-plan kitchen with dining area, and is ideal for contemporary life with a modern family. We love the collection of wooden boards on the wall – adding to the organic ambience of this space.

Here, recycled materials and the owners’ collections of memorabilia come into play with wooden shelves that were created from recycled bits. The adjoining dining room continues the theme – things are kept simple with a natural palette of soft neutrals and a mix of textures including fur throws and natural wood.

The kitchen is beautifully streamlined with IKEA cabinets in white for a modern and clean look. We love the modern stone backsplash used here, which adds a glamorous touch to the kitchen.

The upstairs living space feels more styled with vintage finds and interesting decor including a striking pendant for added lighting. The worn Kilim rug, leather chairs and exposed brickwork in the background create a cool, eclectic look.

The master bedroom feels a little retro, a little modern. A playful mix of pieces creates the look here and the brickwork from the living space extends into this room for an urban ambience. A modern gallery wall of prints and a palette of white and black creates a perfectly serene space.
