Plascon House Tour: A Blissful Berlin Apartment

This modern family home takes up a wonderful and refreshing space in an old, dated Berlin building. It is out with the old and in with the new in this vibrant family apartment.

New life has been etched into an old building. Here, all 100 m2 are filled with character-filled additions such as subtly curved corners, deco detailing, and arches that complement the home’s high ceilings, original ornate doors, and plaster work.

Large windows allow light to flood the dining area. Light wood flooring adds to the bright and inviting ambience created here. We love that the outside calls us ever closer, giving the dining room a fresh and modern feel with nature just beyond the walls. A bold low-hanging pendant chandelier adds texture and interest above the dining room table. It’s subtle yet powerful – a statement of elegance and poise in this stylish retreat.

In the kitchen, hidden storage adds to the streamlined look of the space. A mosaic backsplash adds shine while white cabinets and golden hardware gives the space a modern, elegant feel. All the appliances are cleverly hidden away amid the layout of the kitchen and deep storage drawers add much needed space behind custom lacquered cabinetry.

An eclectic mix of mid-century Italian and French lighting and furniture feature throughout. They love the mix of eras and influences at play and added distinctive 1970s pieces by the likes of Carlo Nason, Ingo Mauer, Greta Grossman, Karl Springer, Fontana Arte, and Willy Rizzo with artwork by David Black and Christo.

Soft textures and colours are used throughout this home and it adds to the sense of bliss in this apartment. Cool, calm and ever elegant, this home is a reflection of simple living at its best.
