Hotel Art Deco Montana

Designed by renowned Swiss interior-designer Ina Rinderknecht, there’s no denying the allure of the Hotel Art Deco Montana’s interiors.

Overlooking the picturesque city of Lucerne in Switzerland, the designer first worked with the hotel in 2022 when she renovated its guest rooms. Recently, Rinderknecht again teamed up with the hotel to renovate several additional spaces, including Scala Restaurant on the ground floor of the property, the Hemingway Rum Lounge and the adjoining cigar lounge, as well as the reception area and bathrooms.

Rinderknecht carefully restored, revived, and refreshed some of the original structure, while adding bespoke furniture and decor to accentuate the property’s luxury offering.
“By refershing the intricate woodwork and marble, walls, Rinderknecht was able to preserve the historical integrity of the spaces,” says the hotel.
“To maintain the original charm of the building, she meticulously selected colours that harmoniously blended with the existing elements. Soft rose and aqua greens were chosen for the restaurant, both with the fabrics and the marble used on the custom-made tables. The tone of the new furniture was inspired by the hall with its rose-coloured marble wall cladding and the dark green stone of the original fireplace.”

Here, you’ll also find a grand chandelier designed by USA-based studio Apparatus and plenty of multi-functional furniture to accommodate different groups.
Elsewhere, moodier decor reigns supreme. The bar and lounge area is swathed in navy and olive hues and masculine leather and brass. Rinderknecht also custom-designed benches, tables and a bar to add to the space’s distinctive look.
A lyrical interpretation of the Bohemian lifestyle, the relaxed yet opulent interiors celebrate the beauty of old and new in a unique way that’s fresh, sophisticated and modern.
