Metal Windows Presents House Kruger

Step inside this exquisite Durbanville home belonging to the Kruger’s. Here you’ll find exceptional attention to detail with owner Angie having designed the interior herself. She achieved a tranquil yet luxurious space, filled with rich textures, natural tones and gorgeous streamlined Metal Windows.

House Kruger is filled with vibrant details and a blend of materials which include rare woods, marble and vintage rugs, accentuated by the simplicity of slim line charcoal window and door products. Large scale picture windows define the space, framing the exquisite garden views. Glorious pops of colour are also woven through, evident in the carefully curated artworks, guest bathroom wallpapers and red Smeg appliances. Stepping through the front doors one experiences a sense of respite from our hyper-connected world.

We hear from the Kruger’s about their home renovation experience…

What was your design vision for your home space?

The house was designed in a villa style with delicate finishes and an interesting modern staircase. We wanted to bring in a modern feel with a lot of light in the house without losing the original villa feeling.

What were the most important factors to consider when making your window and door choices? Were your requirements met?

We wanted to reduce the maintenance needed (as we had wooden frames and doors) and also to reduce the energy required to heat or cool the house. We opted for products that will seal the house as much as possible without using double glazing.  To achieve our goals stated, and retain the “Villa” style, (in Consultation with Trudy of MW), we decided on a combination of steel and aluminium Forman Brand products. We chose steel frames for the fixed pane windows and slim line aluminium for the doors and windows that will open. We also specified custom gold handles in line with our design aesthetic.

Our requirements were absolutely met and we are thrilled with the new look of the house

In short, how would you personally describe your home?

A Mediterranean villa in Durbanville.

What is the feeling you get on entering your home or how would you like your visitors to experience your space?

We want our home to be warm and inviting, but also something extraordinary. We want to surprise our visitors with their expectations of what they see entering the driveway and then an inviting feeling when entering the house.

Can you share a little more about your background and what inspires you?

Corne is a physician gastroenterologist in private practice and I am the practice manager. Before I moved to Cape Town, I had my own company with my mother and sister in Pretoria. We love to travel, good food and wine as well as cooking. For balance… we combine that with a bit of yoga.

We were both married before. Corne has two boys and together we share a chihuahua, a rescue cat and two chickens. As we love to travel, we are inspired by the places we visit and the hotels we stay at. We therefore use these experiences to inspire us in decorating our home.
