Feel at Home in the New AMERICAN Shutters Showroom

Our homes are our refuge and our recharge port, they are uniquely ours. Choosing features and finishes for our homes is therefore intensely personal, which makes browsing typical website catalogues and showrooms a challenge for the imagination. Looking at swatches, samples and jam–packed showroom floors, display walls or shelves does little to help most of us, who battle to picture the product in our space.

It is for this very reason that we turn to Pinterest, décor magazines and blogs for guidance. However, AMERICAN shutters has flipped the typical showroom experience and created a comfortable, inspirational home environment complete with an exquisite bathroom. “Showing our clients how our shutters look, operate and enhance practical spaces of a home allows them to personalise the product,” says Karina Palmer, interior designer and marketing director of AMERICAN shutters. “We have all our ranges, styles, configurations and most of our finishes displayedacross the showroom.”

To create their new showroom, the AMERICAN shutters team took space from their Paarden Eiland factory in Cape Town. Working with the industrial features such as the high large steel framed windows, ‘saw–tooth’ roofline, and exposed brickwork, architect Wynand Wilsenach interpreted Karina’s industrial loft apartment design perfectly.

Another strategic partner in the new showroom creation was HotCocoa Interiors & Design, with whom Karina worked to accomplish the overall design impact; colours, furnishings, wall textures and floor finishes.

“One of the most indulgent areas of the showroom is the expansive bathroom which features an arched window complete with window seat, herringbone tiles a magnificent bathtub and twin basin from Victorian Bathrooms and obviously our practical and stylish shutters,” says Karina

From the moment you walk in and are greeted by the feature wall clad in Cara Saven wallpaper to when you sit comfortably at the impressive wooden table finalizing your order with a dedicated sales consultant, you feel right at home in the new AMERICAN shutters’ showroom
