Quiet Opulence: A Camps Bay Retreat With Metal Windows

The renovation and remodel to this Camps Bay pied a terre is the epitome of laid back sophistication, equal parts relaxed coastal getaway, luxurious retreat and entertainer’s dream.

Flanked on either side by the legendary Twelve Apostles mountains, this property looks out over panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. Table Mountain’s famous granite, fynbos and dappled woods are evoked throughout in a rich, earthy palette of natural timber, concrete, ceramic and metal. The majority of the exterior walls were replaced with Forman Brand F12 Aluminium and glass windows and doors .

 The property lays claim to a spectacular 270-degree panorama of mountains and sea. To let this vista in as much as possible, Metal Windows installed oversized windows and glass stacking doors that also invite in a flood of natural light. 

Solid walls were replaced with folding stacking doors. Panels fold away neatly and are fully weather sealed when closed. An outdoor entertaining space is walled on two sides by foldaway doors creating a seamless transition. The smooth gliding action offers flexibility for multi-use areas. 

On the sea facing side the flexibility of these doors leads one directly to the pool and informal dining & lounging areas.

 Multiple alluring outdoor living spaces are accessible through foldaway aluminium doors. Oversized cushions, comfortable loungers, candles, folded cotton blankets and linen cloths combine to create simple yet sophisticated decor.

 At its heart, the Camps Bay holiday home is a functional dwelling: An open-plan layout downstairs makes way for entertaining; flowing from the entrance into lounge, dining, kitchen bar and multiple outside rooms through the folding stacking Forman F12 Aluminium doors. Cleverly placed statement pieces live beside large comfortable sofas. A butt jointed corner window allows uninterrupted views of  the sea.

 A natural, neutral palette flows throughout this abode with layers of charcoal and accents of metallic lustres . The theme is continued with the use of charcoal powder coated aluminium Forman brand products throughout the property. 

The downstairs guest suite is sumptuous, oriented towards Table mountain it has a large scale clerestory window above folding stacking Forman Brand F12 Aluminium doors which open onto a private Courtyard.

The external walls of the Main bedroom and ensuite bathroom were replaced with multiple folding  stacking windows and doors. Lying in the tub with the windows opened fully is the ultimate in luxury.
