The challenge

Let’s face it. Although beautiful, dressing up a bay window can be tricky. The odd shape makes it a challenge to find the right finishing. However, once dressed to perfection, it can be a statement architectural element in a room. We particularly love bay windows in a master suite – especially if you’re creating a little private reading nook or window seat. The same is true in a living room or dining space where you could create added seating or a sunny spot to drink your coffee.

First things first.

When we understand exactly what a bay window entails, we can begin to decorate it with greater ease. You can easily recognize a bay window by the fact that it protrudes outwards from the wall. They’re recessed into the walls but not actually separate from the room.

The odd shape makes it more challenging to get the right balance of privacy and ventilation. But when you understand that it is designed to bring more light into the room, you can maximise your space and actually make the room feel a lot cosier.

In the master bedroom

A bay window within a large master bedroom is a beautiful design feature. We suggest you layer your window treatments here for added texture and that comfort factor. Have your railings custom made to suit the arch of your bay window and install beautiful floor to ceiling length curtains for that added luxe factor. This way you can open it up completely to let the light in, and shut it completely for a more intimate or private setting.
