Max on top: Homapal Metallic Design in Retail
Max on Top brings the creative possibilities of HOMAPAL metal surfaces to South African architects and interior designers. With distinctive colours, textures and finishes, the collection offers plenty of inspiration for interiors with character. This international project at Fashion House Rudolphi in Bad Lauterberg, Germany, explores those possibilities in a retail setting.
Uniqueness, quality and refined charm – that is what the Rudolphi fashion house in Bad Lauterberg stands for. Since 1875, it has been the region’s largest fashion house, stocking many well-known fashion brands. Personalised advice and the unique, high-quality atmosphere invite customers to linger and browse, all with the aim of putting the customer first. Whether children, teenagers or adults, everyone can find the perfect outfit for every occasion here. The project showcases Max on Top metallic design, combining refined materials with innovative retail displays.
To offer customers an exceptional shopping experience, Rudolphi not only invests in a diverse and high-quality range of fashion but also pays particular attention to the atmosphere. The fashion house’s sales and display areas span several buildings, with each area exuding its own unique charm. The company collaborated with Kunze GmbH on the planning and implementation of the retail space redesign.
WARM METALLIC SURFACES FOR AN UNFORGETTABLE SHOPPING EXPERIENCE
The aim was to visually connect the different parts of the building through the reorganisation of the spaces and to present them in a modern new light. In addition, the product display itself was to be completely rethought. The focus was on creating a real eye-catcher. When planning the design for this extensive architectural project, particular emphasis was placed on high quality and modernity in order to reflect the fashion house’s values.
The main challenge in this project was planning and implementing the work whilst the shop remained open for business. Construction work was carried out across an area of 3,000 m² without disrupting business operations. Particular attention was paid to the design of the changing rooms, which were positioned centrally beneath the glass roof as the architectural focal point. The sculptural design of the changing rooms, in the form of a ‘rock’ with a metallic finish, was intended to attract everyone’s attention and also serve as a display area for merchandise.
In the search for suitable materials that would meet the desired aesthetic, quality and construction requirements, a Homapal metal laminate was selected following an assessment of concrete, plaster, paint and various laminate finishes.
Homapal genuine metal surfaces proved to be the ideal solution for the project due to their elegant appearance and ease of installation. To create a welcoming, calm and bright atmosphere, the Homapal finish 442 Aluminium Brushed Goldtone was chosen for the project. The golden sheen of the surface enhances the visual appeal of the changing rooms. Together with the unique design, this creates a striking focal point. As the central feature of the space, it captivates with its combination of design and functionality, creating an unforgettable shopping experience. This Max on Top metallic design approach demonstrates how carefully selected finishes can enhance both the visual appeal and functionality of commercial interiors.
