First up is power. Then look at the cable. Dark green virtually disappears among foliage, making it a smart choice outdoors, while black or clear cables tend to work beautifully indoors where the lights, rather than the wiring, are meant to take centre stage.

Length is another detail worth getting right. Stellar Lighting suggests using a piece of string to map out where the lights will go, including a little slack, and measuring it afterwards. Smaller balconies or individual trees may need around 20 metres, while larger spaces can benefit from longer or connectable sets.
