Let’s Get Technical About LED’s with Streamlight
There is something very special when doing the right thing is trendy and trending. Streamlight is always eager to jump on the bandwagon when it comes to doing the right thing. From their community work with the Ponelepole Drop Inn Centre, to focusing most of their efforts on designer LED lighting, they want to inform you as to why going green is easy, cost effective and more beautiful than ever.
LED’s AKA Light Emitting Diode’s are extremely energy efficient, using approximately 85% less energy than halogen or incandescent lighting. Simply put, there will be significant savings on your power bill while at the same time reducing your carbon footprint. Over the years LED lights have truly upped their game and have not only infiltrated the manufacturing and commercial world but the design world too.
Brands such as Vibia, Studio Italia, Ilfari and Arturo Alvarez are leaders in the interior design and lighting world and have all taken to the LED movement. From their fabulous pendant lights and chandeliers to outdoor lighting and everything in-between, these designers have taken it upon themselves to go green and still stay fabulous.
Thanks to the internet our knowledge on everything is literally at our fingertips, yet sadly people are still using incandescent lights which were invented in 1879 by Thomas Edison and haven’t changed much in terms of innovation and technology. So you can only imagine how terrible they are for the environment.
There are two main eco-friendly lighting solutions currently available for purchase: Compact Fluorescent lights ( CFL) and Light-Emitting Diodes ( LED). Although CFL bulbs may cost a bit more than traditional bulbs, the benefit is that they last 15 times longer and use nearly 79% less energy compared to traditional light bulbs. LED’s which have been around for several years in commercial applications, have since been designed for domestic use too. These lights are one of the best energy-saving solutions around. If you thought CFL bulbs were great, LEDs are even better and last four times longer than CFLs making them a great option for long-term energy efficiency.
We all know the issues with beautiful lighting and changing their globes, especially lighting in hard-to-reach locations that are sometimes only accessible with special lifts or scaffolding. Due to LED’s long lifespan it will be years before these lights will need to be changed. The longevity aspect of LED’s can save businesses thousands of dollars in maintenance costs, not to mention operating costs from reduced electricity usage. So, as you can see using LED’s is the only way forward.
All in all LED’s have a much longer lifespan. The bulbs can last for 11 years if used to their full capacity and up to 20 years if used to half their capacity. As said previously they are energy -efficient, highly durable – making them perfect for both indoor and outdoor lighting, money saving and Eco-friendly. Take it from us, LED’s are good for the environment and good for business. A true win/win situation.
