Eurolux: Lighting For Small Spaces

If your home is short on space, it’s vital that every aspect of your interior is considered in order to create a streamlined look that is clutter free. Nowhere is this truer than with your lighting.

When it comes to maximising space, the power of lighting is often overlooked. However, place an unsuitably sized floor lamp in the room and you’ll soon feel the walls closing in on you. By making the right lighting choices it is possible to achieve a well-lit space even if your square meterage is on the small side. The following lighting options from Eurolux are a must if you’re wanting to make compact living a breeze.

WALL SCONCES
Wall sconces are a great option for small spaces, especially narrow, dim hallways where there is little to no room for a floor lamp or pendant light. Sconces offer both form and functionality and are usually placed in pairs to lend visual balance to the room. The sconce is an asset to any compact interior as it looks beautiful without taking up an unnecessary amount of space. The Drifter crystal and chrome wall light (W134) is great for placement in the living room or bathroom. This exquisite luminaire consists of crystal rib-shaped glass attached to a circular chrome frame. An option for the bedside is the Pasteri wall light (W347). The body comprises of satin nickel and the shade is made of fabric. It also comes with a flexible stem, perfect for reading at night time.

LED STRIP LIGHTS
LED strip lighting is incredibly versatile and practical and can be used in a multitude of different applications. It’s ideal for cove lighting, under kitchen cabinets, along the edge of stairs and more. Because LEDs emit less heat than traditional bulbs, they can be placed where ordinary bulbs can’t. They also come in a variety of styles and colours and therefore suit any room design. Eurolux stocks LED strip lights (G649) in a variety of widths and colours such a pink, yellow, blue and cool white.

TRACK LIGHTING
Track lighting looks great in modern contemporary homes and works well in areas where space is limited. The light can be angled to where it is needed most and it has the ability to provide illumination of varying intensities. This flexibility means that it is useful for accenting certain works of art or display units. Consisting of a straight aluminium bar with five directional lamp heads, the Vilanova (S364) is a great example of modern track lighting and is sleek in design.

PENDANTS
While the grandeur of a chandelier is hard to resist, this lighting option is unfortunately just not suitable for most small spaces. This is where the pendant comes in. Pendants come in a variety of beautiful designs and shapes and often have adjustable chains so that you can hang them at the appropriate height for your space. Pendant lighting such as the Larissa (P854C) is great for making a statement without overwhelming the room. This trendy pendant has a transparent copper glass shade and is perfect for over a small dining room table. Another subtle yet effective pendant light is the Milano pendant (P797) with a clear or coloured glass shade. The simplicity of its design makes it an unobtrusive addition to any room in the home.

RECESSED LIGHTING
Recessed lighting (G334WW) sits flush with the ceiling, making them a particularly popular choice for rooms lacking in the height department. This subtle lighting option illuminates the room with no fixtures visible and if they are placed correctly across the ceiling, they offer more light than an individual ceiling light located in the centre of the room.
