Bold Lighting Ideas For Contemporary Spaces
Over the years, lighting designs have evolved from simple, functional pieces to beautiful, bold alternatives that could easily double as art. We are continually inspired by the latest lighting innovations and today we are sharing some amazing designs to bring that wow factor to any space from Boca Do Lobo
Lighting designers find inspiration all around – from the shapes and sights found in nature, to the harsher edges and industrial finishes of the modern world. Whether abstract, geometric, organic or modern, there are lighting designs to suit a host of styles and design schemes.
According to the experts, lighting has the power to draw you in and create an ambience. No matter the size or shape, lighting designs suspended in midair possess a rare, gravity-defying quality and lure the eye upward.
A spectacle in gold and glass
Steven Gambrel designed this palatial Greenwich Village home with frequent collaborator Henry Jessup, who was the project architect. In the breakfast area, a Pietro Chiesa chandelier for Fontana Arte dazzles above a Blackman Cruz table and S. R. Gambrel chairs. This beautiful light fitting in gold and glass adds to the decadence of the room. Beautifully crafted by Italian modernist designer Pietro Chiesa who is best known for his glass furnishing pieces and bespoke lighting.
Swirling Bronze
We see the power of lighting design evident in this Chicago townhouse belonging to fashion designer Pamella Roland. In the living room, a swirling bronze light design by Frederik Molenschot provides a spectacular counterpoint to the graphite drawings by Allan McCollum installed above the 18-foot custom-made Luteca sofa. It floats above the living space like a statement artwork, highlighting the room’s sophisticated feel and high ceilings.
L’Chandelier
L’Chandelier is a dreamy, elegant and luxurious lighting design, incomparable and impressive as the romantic Champs-Élysées avenue, frequently described “la plus belle avenue du monde” (“the world’s most beautiful avenue”). This luxurious symbol of Paris transformed into this beautiful handcrafted, polished brass Chandelier. L’Chandelier’s marvelous dancing shape was realized through the antique technique (Repoussé) used widely with gold and silver for fine detailed work, during 3rd century BC. L’Chandelier offers a fine balance of warm sophistication and metal edginess.
Furniture: Boca Do Lobo was founded in 2005 and, early-on, it committed to reinterpret ancient techniques of fine craftsmanship to create unexpected pieces of contemporary design. Boca do Lobo has ground-breaking furniture pieces, highlighted for their irreverent design, clash of materials and technique, which has been at the core of the brand’s design mission.
