Known for its innovative surface solutions, Cosentino has once again shown why it is the global leader in the production of sustainable surfaces with the introduction of EARTHIC® by Silestone®XM.

The latest offering from the Spanish-based company was unveiled at Milan Design Week earlier this year where it won the Technology Fuorisalone Award 2024.

The award, which recognises “projects that innovate by restoring a balance between humans and their environment, using technology as a central factor in protecting the planet”, went to Cosentino’s EARTHIC® LAB exhibition which challenged the conventional approach to design by emphasising the significance of production processes over mere aesthetic appeal by showcasing the production process of the new EARTHIC® surfaces collection and highlighting the importance of sustainable design.

Developed in collaboration with Formafantasma, the production process, which fuses unconventional and reclaimed materials to create a sustainable surface concept, sets a new benchmark in the industry, revolutionising the process of transforming recycled and sustainable materials into something remarkably new within the surfacing industry.

“Earthic is a sustainable surface with a maximum of 10 percent silica, created with an innovative composition and complex production process that is the product of years of R&D,” explains Cosentino.

“It utilises a selection of premium minerals, recycled glass, PET, bioresin, and Dekton fragments to reduce the extraction of raw materials, limiting soil erosion and CO2 emissions. Additionally, it’s manufactured with 99% recycled water and 100% certified renewable electric energy.”

A new-generation collection of sustainable surfaces composed of up to 30 percent unconventional and recycled materials, including 16 to 23 percent bio-resin derived from recycled cooking oil, and a maximum of 10 percent crystalline silica, the EARTHIC® by Silestone®XM collection boasts a unique aesthetic, embodying Cosentino and Formafantasma’s vision of a sustainable surface that does not compromise quality or performance.

The EARTHIC® by Silestone®XM range is available in two colourways: FROMM, a grey surface speckled with white recycled PET fragments, and RAW, a colour (white or grey) with a contrasting veined pattern.
